BUILDING ON A SOLID FOUNDATION

What was the challenge?

RAK Ceramics faced distinct operational challenges at each site. At Petersfield, narrow aisles and the need to handle exceptionally heavy euro pallets weighing up to one tonne at height required a specialised approach that prioritised safety. At Birmingham, the dynamic operation demanded equipment for intensive picking across all racking tiers, handling 200 to 500 picks daily with consistent performance.

Why this product(s)?

Six stand-in stackers (five with stabiliser legs) at Petersfield provide enhanced stability for handling heavy loads safely at height in narrow aisles. Four Mitsubishi SENSiA EM reach trucks at Birmingham feature advanced intelligent systems including Intelligent Cornering, Stability Support System (S3), and Soft Motion technology for maximum efficiency in intensive picking operations.

What was the outcome?

Both sites now operate with exceptional reliability and minimal downtime. The tailored solutions enable RAK Ceramics to maximise storage density at Petersfield while achieving impressive productivity at Birmingham. Dedicated service support ensures quick turnaround, typically within 24 to 48 hours, allowing smooth operations across both locations.

tailored operational solutions

RAK Ceramics needed more than just equipment – they needed solutions tailored to two very different operational challenges. At Petersfield, narrow aisles and pallets weighing up to one tonne demanded equipment that could deliver both safety and precision at height. At Birmingham, intensive picking operations requiring 200 to 500 picks daily needed intelligent technology that could maintain consistent performance throughout long shifts while reducing operator fatigue.

The stackers with stabiliser legs allow us to achieve impressive load capacity. It's an innovative, cost-effective solution that gives us better storage density. We can utilise our narrow aisles efficiently while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Customer-Focused Collaboration

Working closely with their longstanding Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks contact, Jay Bamrah, the team conducted thorough site assessments at both locations. Understanding that every warehouse environment is unique, the approach centred on listening to RAK Ceramics' specific requirements rather than offering standard solutions. Following trial periods and collaborative evaluation, stackers with stabiliser legs were identified as optimal for Petersfield, while SENSiA EM reach trucks with advanced systems were specified for Birmingham. This process ensured each site received equipment tailored to its exact requirements.

The reach trucks perform exactly as we need them to. The intelligent features make a real difference when picking continuously throughout the day. The operators appreciate the improved visibility and smooth, responsive controls.

Reliability meets trust

Both RAK Ceramics sites have experienced exceptional equipment reliability with minimal breakdowns. The service support has been equally impressive, with dedicated engineers assigned to each site ensuring quick turnaround – most issues resolved within 24 to 48 hours. The partnership, spanning over a decade, has evolved through regular site visits and open dialogue, placing operational requirements at the heart of every decision. With operations running smoothly across both sites, RAK Ceramics is well-positioned for continued success, supported by reliable equipment and a long-term partnership built on trust and operational excellence.

Working with RAK Ceramics has been built on understanding their evolving needs. Each site presents unique challenges – from heavy-duty stacking at Petersfield to intensive picking at Birmingham. Through collaborative assessments and trials, we've specified the right solution for each location. We're a long-term solutions partner invested in our customers' success.
