Leading distribution and logistics company goes even greener

Move delivers low emissions, non-stop reliability and lower operating costs.

What was the challenge?

Reduce carbon footprint in materials handling operations while maintaining non-stop reliability across four fast-paced sites.

Why this product(s)?

Mitsubishi EDiA EX electric counterbalance trucks and low-emission Mitsubishi GRENDiA ES LP Gas trucks meet environmental objectives and maximise cost-efficiency.

What was the outcome?

A combination of electric and LPG trucks with industry-leading three-way catalytic converter has resulted in ultra-low emissions and lower running costs.

Non-stop performance and low emissions

One of the fastest growing distribution and logistics service providers in Scotland, Bullet Express is also one of the most progressive, constantly identifying new ways to achieve greater efficiency and operate more responsibly.  Nowhere is that more evident than in its choice of new electric and LPG materials handling equipment to service its four Glasgow sites.

It made commercial as well as environmental sense. We wanted to minimise our carbon footprint while maximising our cost-efficiency. The new trucks have delivered significant savings on whole-life running costs.

Enhanced manoeuvrability plus indoor-outdoor operation

The new fleet of trucks comprises two Mitsubishi EDiA EX electric counterbalance trucks for each of the three Bullet Express sites specialising in storage.

One truck on each site has a capacity of 2.5 tonnes while the other - fitted with double pallet handlers - offers 3-tonne capacity. These trucks fulfil general handling and yard duties.

The operators are delighted with the new electric trucks. Far more nimble than the previous IC engine models, they are much quicker and safer where space is restricted. They are also really quiet, eliminating noise pollution as well as toxic emissions. Importantly, they are equally at home indoors or outside, whatever the weather or ground conditions.

Handling the pressure

Meanwhile, at the company's Bothwell pallet network hub, high speed decanting operations are intense, with more than 1500 pallets loaded and offloaded every working day. It was this pressure to keep the loads moving that drove the decision to specify five Mitsubishi GRENDiA ES LPG trucks.

The result is a perfect combination of clean operations and non-stop performance with three-way catalytic convertors and a state-of-the-art engine management system delivering exceptionally low emissions.

If a truck goes down in a peak period it's a major issue, but the Mitsubishi forklifts have been extremely reliable in what is a really demanding environment.
