Ergonomics: The key to comfort

Ben Haseley

Operators of materials handling equipment are at risk of repetitive strain injuries and musculoskeletal disorders due to the near constant head and arm movements and vibrations when the truck is moving. Injuries often affect the back, neck and shoulders and can be the reason behind significant amounts of sick leave and lost working days.

For years Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks has placed ergonomics as its top priority when designing materials handling equipment. Our trucks include a diverse range of ergonomic features that take into account safety as well as optimum driving positions. By considering everything from how operators climb into the cab and how they sit, to where they place their hands for the controls, Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks has ensured operators are protected and able to work comfortably over long shifts. This in turn enables them to work more safely and productively.

But when sourcing new equipment, what ergonomic features should you look for?
